The Impact of TCP Global in partnership with Kigezi Orphans Project in the Subcounties of Rutenga and Kinaaba, Kanungu District.

Kigezi orphans project is a registered Non-Governmental Organization that does its activities in Kanungu District, South western Uganda.

Currently, the project is working with 50 business and farmer groups of small holder farmers.

In 2025 a strong collaboration with TCP Global, the project received a support of funds equivalent to 3,000 USD in the month of July to support 2 groups in Kinaaba and Rutenga. That was followed by another funding of 3000 USD in the month of August to help the organization support these small holder farmers in form of soft loans. An equivalent of Uganda shillings 21,150,000 was disbursed timely to these beneficiaries.

 All this amount has been disbursed to 61 small holder farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs (Rutenga, 21 females and 10 males, Kinaaba, 22 males and 8 females), which has enabled them to improve their farming activities (both livestock and crop farming) as well as improving their small-scale enterprises such as soap making, jelly, shopping baskets, purchase of Tins for packaging of honey for value addition among others.

Through this partnership, a number of successes have been registered;

The beneficiary invested the loan he received from TCP through Kigezi Orphans Project and he is expecting to harvest 20 bags from each of the 2 bags of quality seed he bought and planted. The beneficiary is very hopeful for a successful life of his family through paying School fees for his children up to University as he is sure of access to soft loans to facilitate his farming enterprises which will enable him to easily purchase the required quality inputs for a bumper harvest.

Conclusion

The partnership of TCP and Kigezi Orphans Project has helped many small holder farmers and entrepreneurs’ access soft loans at a small interest rate which has enabled them boost their income generating activities. We are so grateful for the TCP global support and we strongly believe that this support is going to enable the groups to improve their livelihood activities engaged in which will in the long run help them educate their children in quality schools, increase farm production, access to quality healthcare, and generally improve their standards of living.

Our field officers are periodically engaged with the groups providing trainings in financial literacy, pre-loan training, good agronomic practices trainings, disbursing loans, recovering loans and constantly making follow ups on the investments of these group members as well as documenting success stories that we shall constantly report on- quarterly basis and also preparing loan performance monthly.
