A message from our Directors

Thank you for your interest in Kigezi Orphans Project (KOP). We’re grateful for our partners who have been with us since we started in 2012. Together, we’ve helped 1405 girls and 961 boys. Out of these children, 144 have achieved self-reliance, which makes us very proud in our short time of existence. As Directors of KOP, we appreciate your support.

KOP is dedicated to improving the lives of orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda. We focus on helping them get basic education, learn skills for jobs, and partnering with others to promote skill development. Our main goals include improving technical skills, providing financial support, and creating networks for using the skills gained with KOP’s help.

Despite facing challenges like HIV/AIDS epidemic, the Covid-19 pandemic, and climate change, we’re proud to have made it through the early stages of our project. These issues have strongly affected the communities we serve, especially in areas with mountains and steep slopes where climate change has led to droughts and landslides. These challenges have hit hardest on small farmers, orphans, and vulnerable children, which are the focus of KOP’s efforts. Thank you once again for your interest in supporting our work.

Sincerely,

Julius Katemba, Egidius Katushabe, Co-Directors of the Kigezi Orphans Project
