The Kigezi Orphans Project was founded in 2012 by Kigezi natives Katushabe Egidius and Julius Mubangizi Katemba, who are united by a belief in serving their community. Julius and Egidius developed KOP to serve Kigezi and beyond, hoping to make a difference and inspire others to join their cause. Their integrity and cooperative spirit attracted long term supporters including Dr. William Mbabazi of the World Health Organization (WHO), Warren Ankwasa, Founder of Kikooko Safaris, and others around the world.
Our dedicated team consists of twenty-five educators and support staff. They work hard to ensure the smooth operation of the project. Additionally, Julius and Egidius work as nonresident directors and oversee the comprehensive management of the Kigezi Orphans Project.
Kigezi Orphans Project is registered as (REG No MIA /NB/2022/12/5441) in Uganda under the National NGO act of 2016. The organization owns a school in Rutenga Sub-county, Kanungu District, Kigezi Sub-region, Uganda and is fully licensed by the Ministry of Education under License No. (ME/P/10338).
