At Kigezi Community School, under the stewardship of the Kigezi Orphans Project, we are excited to announce the launch of our Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition Club — a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to improving child nutrition, strengthening food security, and equipping the next generation with essential agricultural skills for life.

On April 21, 2025, we officially inaugurated this vital program, marking a bold step toward creating healthier futures for our students and the wider community.

Why We Started the Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition Club ( SAN CLUB)

In our region and many parts of Uganda, malnutrition and food insecurity continue to threaten the well-being of children and families. Recognizing this urgent need, Kigezi Community School created the “Sustainable Nutrition Agriculture Club” to:

  1. Improve the nutrition of the young ones in our care through access to healthy, homegrown food.
  2. Train  pupils and students with practical skills in sustainable farming practices for lifelong self-reliance.
  3. Promote food security within our school community and beyond.
  4. Provide pathways for income generation through agricultural entrepreneurship.

This club is not just about farming, its about empowering children to take charge of their health, develop valuable survival skills, and contribute meaningfully to their communities for generations to come.

Expanding Our Impact beyond the School

Our vision stretches far beyond the gates of Kigezi Community School.
We intend to expand this model to reach surrounding communities, partnering schools across Kanungu District, and eventually the entire Kigezi Region. By doing so, we aim to spark a regional movement of empowered youth and resilient communities.

Through this expansion, we envision:

  • School gardens and community farms flourishing in every village.
  • Household food security strengthened across rural communities.
  • Young leaders and farmers emerging with the knowledge and passion to drive sustainable development.

Your Opportunity to Make a Lasting Difference

We are calling on investors, partners, and donors who share our belief that true change begins with the empowerment of young people.
With your support, we can:

  • Provide seeds, tools, and training to hundreds of children and families.
  • Develop demonstration farms to serve as learning hubs for the region.
  • Organize workshops on modern nutrition, permaculture, and agribusiness.
  • Foster a culture of self-reliance, sustainability, and innovation.

Together, we can plant the seeds of hope, health, and prosperity across Kigezi.
Be part of a transformative journey to empower children, fight malnutrition, and build resilient communities through sustainable agriculture.
